Cameron Stout has been a shareholder of Keesal, Young & Logan in its San Francisco office since 1991. As a litigator and trial lawyer, Mr. Stout defends many of the firm's nationally known clients in securities arbitrations as well as in federal and state court actions. Mr. Stout's trial and arbitration practice has focused on several primary areas:
In representing financial services firms, particularly securities broker-dealers and banks, Mr. Stout has defended hundreds of customer claims before arbitration panels convened by FINRA, the NYSE, the PCX and the AAA. More than 85 of those cases were arbitrated to final award. Over a three-year period, Mr. Stout oversaw the arbitration and resolution of over 650 securities arbitration claims brought against one of the firm's major brokerage clients in an expedited arbitration process created and overseen by the SEC. Mr. Stout is currently acting as national counsel defending a series of arbitrations arising out of alleged mutual fund losses. Mr. Stout has also represented institutions and individuals in regulatory enforcement investigations and prosecutions, including mutual fund market timing and late trading investigations. Mr. Stout is also experienced in defending financial institutions in cases involving auction rate securities.
Mr. Stout has also handled a broad array of employment litigation cases, including federal and state court claims for wrongful termination, retaliation, discrimination and harassment, several of which have been tried to verdict, and a number of which have been successfully terminated by dispositive motion. In addition, Mr. Stout has represented financial services clients in employee non-competition agreement and trade secret misappropriation declaratory and injunctive relief actions.
Through his representation of brokerage firms and banking clients, Mr. Stout has also developed specific expertise in the area of white-collar crime, particularly in embezzlement, check forgery and money laundering issues arising under the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, the Uniform Commercial Code and the California Business and Professions Code.
Mr. Stout has defended nationally known insurance brokerage firms in cases involving professional liability and errors and omissions, as well as unfair trade practices cases involving trade secret misappropriation in the employment raiding context.

for the highest level of professional excellence) and was honored as a Northern
California Super Lawyer for 2009 (based on an extensive process of balloting, blue-ribbon
panel review, and independent research). Mr. Stout is in charge of recruiting and
hiring and for the summer associate program for the firm's San Francisco office.
Born in 1958, Mr. Stout received his A.B. degree from Princeton University in history in 1980. While at Princeton, Mr. Stout was a starter on its Division I varsity tennis team. Mr. Stout graduated in 1984 with honors from the University of San Francisco School of Law. Mr. Stout lives in Marin County with his wife and two teenage children. In addition to participating in regional tennis tournaments, Mr. Stout is an avid long-distance cyclist.
