Founding Partner Steve Young and his wife Marlene accepted the “Spirit of Life Award” award on behalf of Keesal, Young & Logan at the 37th Annual Cancer League Gala at The Center in Lakewood, Calif. on June 16.
Presented by The Long Beach Cancer League and the American Cancer Society as part of the”World With More Birthdays” fundraising program, this prestigious honor is awarded to individuals and organization who’ve made an outstanding charitable contribution to cancer research. Keesal, Young & Logan is humbled to received such an honor and looks forward to helping the local cancer league with its efforts in the future.

Cancer Society throws a birthday party
A dramatic greeting was extended to the more than 400 guests attending the Long Beach Cancer League and the American Cancer Society’s 37th Annual Gala on June 16. Impressive female acrobats welcomed the crowd and served champagne upon the arrival of attendees at The Centre in Lakewood.
“A World with more Birthdays” brought in many happy returns, a grand total of $200,000. Guests entered the elegantly lighted ballroom that captured the mood of a festive party atmosphere. Different floral arrangements at each table were centered on embroidered silk and satin tablecloths.
Birthday chocolates from Papa’s Chocolates were gifts to the attendees. Attendees also enjoyed scrumptious culinary creations of Thank Goodness it’s Sofia, and danced the night away to the upbeat music of the Lee Farrell band.
Cancer League President Myrna Wigod began the evening’s presentations of honored guests with her usual humor, leaving the audience laughing along with the sound of great applause.
The Spirit of Life Award was presented to Keesal, Young and Logan, represented by Steve Young and his wife Marlene and to Dr. Robert Nagourney with his wife, Maxine Johnson.
Long Beach Chamber President and CEO Randy Gordon conducted the live auction that featured an exclusive Emmy Awards experience as well as luxury vacations in Big Bear Lake, New York City and the Colorado Rockies. Earlier there was also lively bidding on silent auction items.
