Julie Avery is an associate with Keesal, Young & Logan in its Long Beach office. Julie focuses her practice on business litigation, maritime, environmental and renewable energy matters.
Environmental
Julie advises clients on compliance with a broad array of environmental laws, including Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), Clean Water Act (CWA), Clean Air Act (CAA), and state equivalents, as well as the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). She has defended against legal actions and enforcement matters involving U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and various state regulators such as the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality, California State Water Resources Control Board, and California Department of Toxic Substances Control. Prior to joining Keesal, Young & Logan, Julie represented multiple clients at Portland Harbor Superfund Site during the CERCLA allocation process.
Renewable Energy
Julie represents companies in the renewable energy industry to draft and negotiate Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) agreements for multimillion dollar large-scale solar and onshore wind projects, including repower and related agreements. She has also defended renewable energy companies in multijurisdictional complex contractual disputes.
Insurance
Julie has a broad range of insurance coverage experience and has represented commercial policyholders in disputes under Directors & Officers, Representation & Warranties, and Commercial General Liability policies.
Employment Litigation & Advisory
Julie defends employment claims under federal and state regulations, including discrimination and wage and hour.
